The naming is derived by two brass plaques attached to the bar which were retreived from an old steam train which dates back many years. Just a three minute stroll through the Russell Family Park from the garden along a charming natural mowed pathway leads to the centre of the quaint village of Montville. Montville is as close to an English Village as you will ever find in Australia. First settled in 1887 by citrus growers, Montville has a village green between the local school and village hall, tiny timber churches, a three storey timber restaurant which was the original general store. It is a noted hinterland arts and crafts centre and is sometimes referred to as the 'Creative Heart of the Sunshine Coast'. There are many gift shops, galleries, potteries and eateries from traditional bush tucker to continental delicacies. The many art galleries both exhibit and produce works of great interest to all art lovers. Many artists reside in the area and show their work locally.
Within easy driving distance from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast beaches (twenty minutes), the Blackall Range is a place to escape city life and experience the tranquillity of nature and the welcome of country hospitality.
